The FMD (Fasting Mimicking Diet) is a scientifically designed, plant-based, calorie-restricted meal plan that lasts 5 days. It provides cellular rejuvenation similar to fasting, while ensuring the body is adequately nourished. Not only does the FMD promote weight loss, enhance focus, and increase energy, but it also has significant effects on blood sugar control. A 6-month study on diabetes and FMD revealed that 67% of patients reduced their dependence on medications, achieving a 1.4 reduction in A1C. Additionally, 59% experienced a marked decrease in insulin resistance and an average weight loss of 22 pounds. The results indicate an eightfold increase in the rate of diabetes regression, with some patients even achieving complete diabetes remission.

Upon concluding your FMD, we recommend initially focusing on lighter, easily digestible foods. Begin your post-fast nourishment with liquid-based options like broths then gradually progressing to more substantial foods such as rice, pasta, and modest portions of meat, fish, or legumes. Your Dietitian Coach will be a great resource to help you with meal planning following your FMD. For a seamless transition to a balanced, post-fasting diet, consider subscribing to meal plans from our sister company, Nutrition for Longevity (N4L). During the L-Nutra Health fast, it's crucial to closely monitor your blood glucose levels. You should check your fasting blood glucose, as well as before and after each meal and at bedtime. If you experience symptoms of low blood glucose, it's important to check your levels immediately. Light physical activity may also affect your blood glucose, so consider checking before and after any such activities. Generally, fasting and pre-meal blood glucose levels should fall between 80 mg/dl and 130 mg/dl. Two hours post-meal, blood glucose should not exceed 200 mg/dl during the fast. It's essential to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized medical advice, especially when making changes to your fasting or eating patterns.

While physical exercise has the potential to expedite the utilization of blood glucose and facilitate a fasting state, we advise against high-intensity workouts during your FMD. During this time, opt for gentler forms of movement such as walking, yoga, or stretching to minimize bodily stress. As you transition back to your regular exercise routine post-fasting, it's crucial to attune yourself to your body's signals. If an activity feels overly strenuous, it likely is. Exercise moderation and keep the intensity within a manageable range. Keep in mind that your body is in a recuperative phase post-fasting, so it may require a few days to regain the strength and stamina you had prior to the fast.
